Research Assessment Exercise
The UK's recent Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) evaluated departments on their research output since 2001, their research environment, and the esteem accorded to them by peers at home and abroad. 55% of UCL Scandinavian Studies research activity was judged to be 'world-leading (4*)' or 'internationally excellent (3*)', and a further 25% 'internationally recognised (2*)'.
