The Reta Lila Weston Institute of Neurological Studies

The Reta Lila Weston Institute of Neurological Studies was founded in 1977 through a generous bequest from the Reta Lila Weston Trust for Medical Research, with the aim of furthering knowledge about stroke and neurodegenerative disorders.

We have an active programme of research into neurodegenerative conditions, with particular emphasis on parkinsonian disorders (idiopathic Parkinson's disease and progressive supranuclear palsy, corticobasal degeneration), hereditary spastic paraplegia and stroke.

We are a research institute within UCL Institute of Neurology, and have close links with the Queen Square Brain Bank, the Sara Koe PSP Research Centre and the National Hospital of Neurology and Neurosurgery, and carry out collaborative and interdisciplinary research combining clinico-pathological, genetic and cell biological approaches.
