and grew up in Kyoto, Japan. I was trained as a civil engineer at
Waseda University, Japan. After obtaining a Master in Civil Engineering,
I worked in East Japan Railway Company for five years in which I was
involved in various railway infrastructure development projects
including the modernaisaiton of Naoetsu Station, the modernisation of
Shinjyuku station, the realignment of tracks at Ikebukuro Station. This
industry experience was followed by my PhD study and subsequent
postdoctroal research in accessible transport systems.
