Research Interests

Beck's research interests are foremost in uncertainty quantification of complex computer models. More specifically, he has focused on the development, analysis, and practical application of design of computer experiments for emulation and optimisation. He is also interested in the numerical solution of PDEs with random input data. The areas of application he considers include engineering and environmental science. Currently he is a Research Associate in Statistics for Natural Hazards (seismic and tsunami hazards) at UCL Department of Statistical Science and UCL Institute of Risk & Disaster Reduction, funded by the Probability, Uncertainty and Risk in the Environment (PURE) program of NERC.
