Student Statistics 1995-96 to 2012-13
The aim of the following Student Statistics data is to provide those who are interested with information on the composition of the student body.
All of the figures from 1994-95 forward relate to the position as at 1 December, which is the date of the official Count carried out for the Higher Education Funding Council for England, and, therefore, exclude affiliate students starting in January. Prior to 1994-95, figures were given at 31 December and include such affiliates. This should be taken into account when making time-series comparisons.
The figures represent bodies not FTEs and should not be construed as indicating any form of teaching effort. In the case of joint programmes, for example, students will be counted against their Department of home enrolment only.
The tables and diagrams provide useful sources of consistent year on year comparators, but are not intended to be a source of base data for resource bidding whether for cash, space, library or computing allocations. These matters are properly handled via Planning and Resources and the Resource Centre Model.
