Dr Trinidad Rico is UCL Qatar’s Lecturer in Heritage Studies. Her broad research interests focus on critical heritage theory, including epistemology in conservation practice, the management of risk in cultural contexts, and the construction of heritage in the framework of Islamic societies. At UCL Qatar, Dr Rico contributes to teaching on all three Master’s degree programmes, but primarily to the MA in Museum and Gallery Practice. 

Dr Rico holds a PhD in Anthropology and an MA in Social and Cultural Anthropology from Stanford University, an MA in Principles of Conservation from UCL, and a BA in Archaeology from the University of Cambridge. Her doctorate addressed the reconstruction of heritage in post-disaster Banda Aceh, Indonesia. She has previously worked at the Getty Conservation Institute in Los Angeles, and in archaeological and field conservation projects in Europe, Turkey, Oman, Argentina, South Africa and the USA.
