Dr Edgar Pusch is a Senior Research Fellow at UCL Qatar, where he is conducting research at the Ancient Egyptian capital site of Qantir-Piramesse in the Nile Delta. In addition to continuing his excavations at this site, he is publishing research papers on Qantir-Piramesse, including his investigations of the city structure which has been scanned by caesium-magnetometry and which covers an area of more than two square kilometres. Dr Pusch’s research also focuses on chariotry, weaponry, metallurgy, and the industrial production of glass and faience.

His further research interests include Old Kingdom Egypt, the excavation of the capital of Ancient Egypt during Ramesside times situated in the Nile Delta at the Pelusiac Nilbranch (ca. 1300 – 900 BC), the ancient international relationships between Egypt and its northern neighbours, and technological transfer between their societies.

Dr Pusch holds a PhD in Egyptology from Rheinische-Friedrich-Wilhelms University of Bonn, Germany. He began excavating in Egypt 1969 and was working at the Aswan Old Kingdom Tombs until 1977. Between 1978 and 2010 he was affiliated to the Roemer-and Pelizaeus-Museum, Hildesheim, Germany, where he continued to conduct archaeological research at Qantir-Piramesse. He is one of the most experienced and distinguished academic professionals in the field of Egyptology.
