UCL Public Policy secondments
UCL is keen to foster effective engagement between academia and policymakers and to encourage interaction between our researchers and individuals and organisations involved in public policy development. Researcher secondments are a valuable way of developing better relationships with policymakers; enabling UCL staff to gain valuable insights into the policy-making process and to contribute to the development of evidence-based advice and policy; and ensuring that UCL research is having an impact on public policy.
As part of our public policy strategy, UCL has developed a number of policy secondments with the Royal Society's Science Policy Centre and the Government Office for Science. These have been generously funded via UCL Enterprise Secondments.
UCL and the Department for Business, Innovation & Skills are working together to develop a policy secondment scheme for UCL researchers which will provide valuable experience of the policymaking environment and how research can inform policy, and insight into the work of a Government department. Secondment opportunities are on a flexible, part-time basis, usually for a short fixed-term period. Applicants from all disciplines are encouraged.
If you are a UCL researcher and would be interested in discussing the possibility of a policy secondment, please email the Head of UCL Public Policy.
UCL is developing a number of partnerships with think-tanks and policy organisations on particular issues of mutual interest. If you are a UCL researcher and would like to find out more or get involved, please email the Head of UCL Public Policy.
If your organisation would be interested in working with UCL on a particular public policy issue, please email the Head of UCL Public Policy.
