Writing War

Writing War is planned as a series of events exploring the role of autobiographical writing in articulating war experiences. The primary aim is to investigate the dynamic relationship between soldier writers and their academic and non-academic audiences. Questions that will be addressed are whether and how the process of writing can be a form of self-therapy for soldiers and how published diaries and memoirs shape public perception and memory of war. The project will provide an opportunity for a range of people interested in war writing (e.g. soldiers, academics, interests groups) to take part in a mutually enriching dialogue about ‘writing war’.
