Professor Jim Hopkins

Jim Hopkins is a Visiting Professor at UCL and Reader Emeritus in Philosophy at King’s College London. He was Kohut Visiting Professor of Social Thought at the University of Chicago for 2008. His main work has been on psychoanalysis, consciousness, interpretation, and the philosophy of Wittgenstein.  

His most recent paper on psychoanalysis is ‘Psychoanalysis, representation, and neuroscience: the Freudian unconscious and the Bayesian brain’ in Fotopoulu, Pfaff and Conway, eds,  From the Couch to the Lab: Trends in psychodynamic neuroscience, Oxford University Press, 2012.
