Franco Orsucci

Franco OrsucciFranco Orsucci, MD Dpsych, is a Visiting Professor in the Psychoanalysis Unit at University College London. He is Professor (f.t.) at the Post-Graduate Medical School, University of Siena; Consultant in Rehabilitation & Recovery at the Lucille van Geest Centre, Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust, Cambridge; and Member of the International Psychoanalytical Association.

His first steps in research were in the psychopathology of language and psychotherapy research from an evidence based perspective. He has developed several interdisciplinary collaborations with neuroscientists, mathematicians, physicists and philosophers within the framework of Complexity Science. His current empirical research, in collaboration with Peter Fonagy, is on informational (a-symbolic) measures of language, conversation dynamics, synchronization and co-evolution.

Within this field, the crucial role of implicit knowledge and a-conscious processes in therapeutic change is widely recognized. A comprehensive model of neuro-cognitive and relational processes is represented by the global framework of Mind Force theory.

His clinical research is focused on borderline disorders and psychosis, with a focus on neuroplasticity: from reflectivity to reflexivity.

He is Editor in Chief of Chaos & Complexity Letters (International Journal of Dynamical Systems Research, Nova Science Publishers, New York) and, in addition, has published a number of articles, chapters and books:
The Complex Matters of the Mind (1998) and Changing Mind: transitions in natural and artificial environments (2002) are published by World Scientific, Singapore and London. Bioethics in Complexity: foundations and evolutions (2004), is published by Imperial College Press, London. Reflexing Interfaces (2007) is published by Idea Books, New York.

Between 2006 and 2009 he edited several volumes on complexity theory advancements for Nova Science Publishers, New York. Mind Force: on Human Attractions (2009) is his most recent and awaited book and it is published by World Scientific.
