Information for Students
1. Learning resources
Teaching will take place at the Anna Freud Centre in the UK and at Yale Child Study Center in the US. Students will have access to the libraries at these institutions and to the libraries of UCL and the University of London in the UK, and the libraries of Yale University in the US. The Anna Freud Centre library resources include some electronic library resources (archive of 20 psychoanalytic journals dating back to first year of publication plus key psychoanalytic books)
Internet-connected workstations are available at AFC and YCSC to cover the students' needs including word processing, spreadsheet and statistical software.
2. Sources of support for students
A. In London
See the UCL Graduate Student Guide for details of the College support available to students. (Includes Faculty Office, Dean of Students, Counselling Services, Advisors to Women, etc).
It is the responsibility of students with disabilities or dyslexia to discuss this with Tutors early in the course so that where applicable, special provision can be considered. UCL policy is spelt out in the manual "Information for Students with Disabilities" which is available from the UCL Disability Coordinator who can be also be contacted for advice.
Education and Information Support Division run a course on English and Academic Literacy. This course addresses difficulties students may have at surface (grammar, syntax, vocabulary etc) or depth (writing task typology, purpose, value). Enquiries or registration for places should be addressed to colleen.mckenna@ucl.ac.uk .
Some career advice can be offered to students in individual discussion with the Course Organiser and Course Tutors, who may be able to arrange for the student to have further discussion with colleagues, or to obtain fuller information about options (e.g. professional training or study for a PhD) from relevant sources. Students should also be aware of the careers advice available through UCL Careers Office.
B. In New HavenWhile in New Haven, students will have all the rights and privileges afforded Yale graduate fellows. These include access to the Yale internet server with a Yale University netid, access to the Yale library system, the gym facilities, and health care coverage.
