PhD Studentship (Teaching Assistant Post)

Department of Speech, Hearing and Phonetic Sciences

A demonstratorship is available for the academic year commencing September 2013. The post provides three years full funding including tuition fees at the UK/EU level and the equivalent of a maintenance grant. The Post-holder will be expected to contribute to teaching or support of the BSc Speech Sciences and MSc Speech and Language Science degrees.

The successful candidate will register for the MPhil/PhD under the supervision of Dr Patti Adank, who is currently at the University of Manchester and who will be moving to UCL in June 2013. The student would ideally work on a project investigating the cognitive and neural mechanisms underlying imitation in speech using behavioural and neuroimaging methods (electromyography and functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging). Applicants, by the start of the post, must hold an undergraduate or masters degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Psychology, Speech and Hearing Science, or Neuroscience) that is equivalent to a 1st class or 2:1 standard in the UK system.
