PhD studentships
| PhD studentships in Language Sciences at University College London |
Applications are invited for two 3-year MPhil/PhD studentships funded by the ESRC (UK Economic and Social Research Council). The studentship is subject to the ESRC’s nationality and residency restrictions, which typically require 3 years of prior UK residency (http://www.esrc.ac.uk/funding-and-guidance/funding-opportunities/looking-for-funding/eligibility.aspx). The studentship will normally cover fees and include a maintenance stipend.
Applications will be considered for students interested in experimental investigations of human communication. Research areas include aspects of speech, language and communication; acquisition of first and later-learned languages; experimental phonetics, linguistics and pragmatics; developmental and acquired language and communication disorders; and impacts of hearing impairments on language and speech. Applicants should have a relevant first degree or masters degree equivalent to a 1st class or high 2:1 standard in the UK system.
Applicants should first discuss their project with a potential supervisor in the departments of Developmental Science, Language and Communication, Linguistics, or Speech Hearing and Phonetic Science; see the relevant web pages within the Division of Psychology and Language Sciences (http://www.ucl.ac.uk/psychlangsci/research). Applicants must then apply for admission into the MPhil/PhD through the UCL online application system (http://www.ucl.ac.uk/prospective-students/graduate-study/application). Please also email Natalie Berry, n.berry@ucl.ac.uk, to indicate that you wish to be considered for this scholarship.
| Complete applications, including references, must be submitted by 31 January 2012. |
