Information for new MRes Speech, Language and Cognition students

If you have not already, you should shortly receive an email from UCL Registry and Academic services detailing the pre-enrolment process which can be completed before arrival at UCL.  This will allow you to make your official UCL enrolment as quick and easy as possible and also has some information on the payment of fees.

All new students should attend the welcome meeting on Tuesday 24th September 2013, at 2 pm in Chandler House, after which students will meet their programme director, and receive further information on registration week events and their programme of study.

A timetable of induction events for MRes Speech, Language and Cognition students is available here.  International students should note, particularly, the Study Skills session held on Thursday, 26th September 2013.

A Facebook group is available for students studying one of several programmes at Chandler House.  The group is intended to allow students to get to know each other before the programme begins and students have found it useful in the past.  The group is not moderated by UCL staff.

The research focussed nature of the MRes Speech, Language and Cognition programme, which allows students to choose several modules from all those offered in the Division of Psychology and Language Sciences module (within limits) makes production of a timetable in advance complicated.  Each student is likely to have a very different timetable so producing a single timetable for all students is not possible. The structure of the MRes SLC programme will be explained in more detail at the welcome event on Tuesday 24th September.

Students are encouraged to look at the range modules offered within the Division of Psychology and Language Sciences prior to beginning the programme.  This can be done through the Faculty Course Database where you can search modules by keyword.

All students attend PLINGM01: Research Methods and Statistics teaching which begins on Wednesday 25th September and runs throughout terms 1 and 2. A timetable for this module can be found here.

If you have questions before the programme starts, please contact Pete.
