Tuition Fees
If you wish to apply for the IPA strand, you should complete the
entrance test (for which there is no charge) and wait for the result
before making an application or sending any payment. For the EFL
strand, you can apply directly.
All applications must be accompanied by payment, either of the full
fee or a (non-refundable) deposit of £200. The full payment must be received before the
beginning of the course. You may pay by bank transfer, by cheque or
bank draft, or by credit card (Visa or MasterCard).
EFL strand
£670 (for applications received before 1 July 2013)
£735 (from 1 July 2013)
IPA strand
£710* (for applications received before 1 July 2013)
£775* (from 1 July 2013)
*Subject to confirmation. The examination entry fee charged by the International Phonetic Association, currently £40, is under review (December 2012) and may be increased. The SCEP IPA strand tuition fee will rise to reflect any such change.
Please read our Terms and Conditions below. Note that in case of cancellation after 1 July, tuition fees will only be refunded if you are able to provide documentary evidence of a genuine reason for non-attendance (for example, illness).
Cancellation (Tuition)
If you have to withdraw from the course—after you have been accepted, but before 1 July 2013—then the tuition fee or deposit you have paid will be returned, less £50 cancellation fee. You must inform us in writing if you wish to withdraw. From 1 July, refunds will be given only for documented extenuating circumstances such as illness, bereavement or natural disasters.
Cancellation (accommodation)
Fees or deposit paid for accommodation are not refundable at any stage except at our discretion (only if we are able to re-allocate the room we reserved and paid for on your behalf). A separate £50 cancellation fee applies.
Insurance
You are advised to arrange adequate personal travel insurance.
Visas
Please note that if you require a visa to travel to the UK it is your own responsibility to obtain it. You are advised to apply for it in good time. We will not be able to refund fees if you cannot attend because you have not obtained your visa in time.
