Research Interests
'Previously I worked as a Research Assistant (intern) on a variety of projects from Language Isolates with Robert Adam and the British Lexical Database. One project in particular was working alongside Dr Jo Atkinson and Dr Tanya Denmark on the Deaf with Dementia Project, which developed my interest into clinically based research with atypical populations such as those with neurological or developmental disorders.
In June 2012 I began working with Dr. Joanna Atkinson to examine executive function and wellbeing in older adult BSL users ranging from 50 - 89. This is part of a larger project looking deaf older BSL users planning and decision making skills. We are working to develop and adapt existing assessments looking at wellbeing, inhibition, cognitive flexibility, planning working memory and sign language ability.
From September 2012 I am also the 'Deaf Community Liaison Officer' for DCAL, this involves recruiting new participants and effective dissemination of DCAL research findings to the community.
I am also involved in the Changing Languages and Identities Project with Kate Rowley looking at deaf teenagers and CSWs in further education. Please see Kate Rowley’s page for more information.
I am currently undertaking an MSc Psychology at Greenwich University with the aim of one day working clinically in the field of Psychology as well as continue to work within research. '
