 Abstract:

Body dissatisfaction is a potentially modifiable risk factor which is associated with subsequent eating disorders, weight gain and depression. It is widely conceptualised as having both perceptual and cognitive factors. I will describe results from a series of interventions designed with the aim of changing women's perception of, and thus satisfaction with, their body size.

Dr Helen Bould is a Clinical Lecturer in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Bristol and 2gether NHS Foundation Trust. She has just completed her DPhil at the University of Oxford with Prof Catherine Harmer and Prof Matthew Broome. You can follow her on Twitter @drbould
