Former Prime Minister Tony Blair visiting UCL. In 2006, Blair opened the Hatter Cardiovascular Institute; a joint venture between University College Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and UCL aimed at discovering new therapies for cardiovascular diseases.

Formal opening of the Arius3D colour scanner at the UCL Chorley Institute, March 2007. The first of its kind in Europe, it offers interdisciplinary research opportunities across several departments including archaeology, heritage and medicine.
