UCL Sutton Scholars for Year 8 and 9
"I had a blast and I am now even more open minded about learning. I especially enjoyed the lectures, as I now have more experience with university life. I feel more educated and ready for when school opens again, so thank you for that!" Year 8 UCL Sutton Scholars participant, 2014
Year 8 UCL Sutton Scholars participant, 2014
UCL Sutton Scholars is a long-term academic enrichment programme for highly able Year 8 and 9 students. We recruit students from non-selective London state schools with over 35% free school meals. Students attend a series of interdisciplinary thematic discovery days to explore a range of humanities and STEM subjects. Discovery day themes include History of Medicine, Right and Wrong, Mission to Mars, and Mind and Brain.
Recruitment for 2014-15
We will contact selected target schools in late October 2014 to invite applications for the Year 8 and Year 9 2015 programmes.
The Year 8 programme will include three day programmes in the February and May 2015 half terms, and will conclude with a four day summer school in July or August 2015.
The Year 9 programme will run for four Saturdays at UCL in January and February 2015 and will have a strong focus on developing academic skills.
Students for both programmes must meet our widening participation demographic selection criteria, and must also be academically high achieving. Full details of the selection criteria will be provided in the application pack.
