"It was a useful experience for me, helping with the transition from secondary to A Level, then from A Level to university."
More information on the summer school is available in the Explore UCL brochure.
The Summer School lasts for five days, from Monday 20th - Friday 24th July 2015.
The Summer School is open to students with little or no family background of Higher Education from non-selective state schools in the London boroughs.
The Summer School is free of charge.
The closing date for applications is Friday 13th March 2015.
The Summer School is open to students who are predicted at least 5 A* - A grades at GCSE.
Decisions will be made once we have received parent/guardian confirmation and the teacher reference.
We hope to advise you of the outcome of your application in April/May.
If we aren't able to offer you a place we will be able to put you on the waiting list, in case anyone cancels.
If you change your mind about attending the Summer School, please let us know as soon as possible so we can allocate your place to someone on the waiting list. Please email Louise Sung at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Attending the Event
The Summer School starts at 9.30am every day. Please make sure you arrive on time!
The Summer School finishes at 4pm every day, except Friday, when there are presentations and a certificate ceremony until 7pm. Your family will be invited to the ceremony.
We ask that students commit to attend the Summer School for the whole
week. You will get the most out of the Summer School if you are able to
attend every day. If you need to miss part of a day please contact us to
see if this will be possible. Please email Louise Sung at email@example.com.
If you are ill and can't come to the Summer School, please ask your parent or guardian to call us on 020 3108 1088. If you are ill during the Summer School we will call your parent or guardian to make arrangements for them to collect you.
Preparing for the Event
Please don't bring valuables to the Summer School as we won't be able to provide a secure place to keep them. You will get a welcome pack with a note book, pen and pencil on the first day of the Summer School. Don't forget to bring your travel card!
We will send you a free travel card for the week of the Summer School. To plan your journey to UCL, use the Journey Planner on Transport for London's website: http://www.tfl.gov.uk. Use UCL's postcode WC1E 6BT as your destination.
You can wear casual clothes to the Summer School, whatever
you feel comfortable in. We ask that you are presentable though - no
low-cut clothing or clothes with slogans that could cause offence.
You won't need to bring any money to the Summer School. Travel, lunch and refreshments will be provided.
There will be refreshments (juice, water and biscuits) available at the morning and afternoon breaks. At lunch you will either get a voucher to spend in the college refectory or receive a packed lunch. Any special dietary requirements can be catered for including Kosher, Halal, lactose intolerance etc, but if you have any questions, please email Louise Sung: firstname.lastname@example.org
Yes, there is a contemplation room available for students to use.
