Frequently Asked Questions
No, UCL's Masterclasses are all free of charge!
Filling in an application form does not guarantee you a place on a UCL Masterclass. Once you have submitted your application form it will be assessed by the Outreach team who will decide whether or not to offer you a place. Our decisions will be based on the quality of your application with particular attention given to your reasons for attending.
We will aim to respond to all applications within two weeks of their submission. We will contact you by email or text to confirm your place and to give you further information for what to do on the day.
Yes. There is no limit to the number of Masterclasses that you may apply for although due to the high number of applications that we receive you may not get places on all of the Masterclasses that you apply for.
Students must submit their own applications for UCL's Masterclasses. We will not be able to accept group applications from schools, although there is no limit on the number of students who can apply individually from any school/ college.
Year 9 students are required to bring a responsible adult with them to all UCL Masterclasses. If your parent/ carer is not able to attend you may attend with another family member/ friend provided that they are over 18 years of age. If you wish to do this, please contact Lucy Salmon with the details of the person who will be attending with you.
For Years 10 & 11 and Year 12 Masterclasses, bringing a parent/ guardian is optional. Years 10 & 11 students who choose not to bring a parent with them to the Masterclasses will, however, need to bring a signed consent form to the class.
If you are no longer able to
attend a Masterclass, please contact Lucy Salmon as soon as possible so that she can remove you from the list and
your place can be made available to another student.
