Student View

"I learnt that debating is a conversation where people get to speak and listen to each other whilst expressing their points of view, and that debating is not just about arguing but that it is also about reaching a conclusion."

Year 10 Debating Summer School

Our Year 10 Summer School uses the discipline of debating to sharpen critical thinking and public speaking skills.

The programme has a different theme every year; previous themes were 'Science and Society', 'Global Citizenship' and 'Politics'. The Summer School lasts for four days and includes debating workshops, taster lectures, homework activities, an offsite visit, free lunch and a final day debate tournament.

2013 Summer School

Dates for the 2013 Summer School will be confirmed by Spring 2013. Places are initially offered to students attending the Year 10 Saturday School, but we also recruit some new participants from target schools in the Spring.
