UCL Object London Summer School
The UCL Object London Summer School is for students in year 12 who are considering university study in London. The multidisciplinary programme will enhance your observation and analysis skills through the study of objects and collections.
There are 30 places available on the Object London Summer School, which is taking place from Sunday 16 June to Friday 21 June, 2013. Students will stay in University of London Halls of Residence in central London, a short walk away from the UCL campus.
UCL has four museums open to the public and owns outstanding collections of objects and specimens that cover a wide variety of disciplines, reflecting the
range of the university's academic work. You will have the opportunity to learn in UCL's museum spaces, as well as in other museums in London, to interrogate London's Past, Present, and Future.
You can find out more about UCL's museums and collections here.
The multidisciplinary programme is designed to enhance your academic knowledge, teach you skills that will be useful for university study, and teach you valuable observation and analysis skills.
During the summer school, you will take part in a series of lectures, interactive workshops, and educational tours. You will also be given a project to work on in teams throughout the week. Student Ambassadors will be on hand to support you with your lessons and your project for the duration of the summer school.
The final sessions for the Object London summer school are still in development but they are likely to include sessions that focus on History, Archeology, Science, and Geography, as well as other disciplines.
In the evenings you will have your project to work on but there will also be a programme of social activities taking place. You’ll get to know your fellow students and have the opportunity to explore some of the varied attractions that London has to offer. Examples of activities could include visits to Shakespeare's Globe, a quiz night at UCL, and various other opportunities.
