The Ancient World: Classical World Summer School

The Ancient World summer school is aimed at Year 12 students who are interested in coming to UCL to study the Department’s Ancient World BA degree. The focus will be on aspects of the Classical world (and the ancient world more generally) that are accessible to students without a background in the languages. Last year’s Summer School included sessions on Egyptian archaeology, the ancient Near East, ancient literacy and papyrology, the figure of Augustus in Roman poetry, Greek colonisation, ancient Greek song, and the reception of the ancient world in modern culture.

The teaching sessions will involve a mix of seminars, discussion groups and lectures with research students who have a wealth of experience in these fields.
