Open Day 2014

Open Day 2014 - Frequently Asked Questions

ON THE DAY

Q. Can I bring more than one guest to the Open Day?

A. We welcome guests of prospective students as we understand it is important for family members and friends to visit the campus. Unfortunately, due to space restrictions, we can only allow students to book a place for one guest at the Open Day. If you feel it is necessary to bring two guests to the event we will allow your second guest entry to the campus, but please be aware that prospective students are a priority for attending talks. This means that if a talk you wish to attend is oversubscribed there will only be space for one of your guests.

Q. When I arrive on campus, where should I go?

A. You are free to go to any talks and activities as soon as you arrive on campus, so please check the programme which contains details of all talks and look at the campus map to plan your route to the talk/ activity venue. There will be student helpers at each talk venue who will have boxes to collect your confirmation letter.

Q. What do I need to bring on the day?

A. A confirmation letter, programme and stickers will be sent out to registered students two weeks before the Open Day. You must bring these with you on the day - the entry stickers will give you access to the various talk venues and activities, and the confirmation letter will need to be dropped into one of the many registration boxes which will be dotted around campus.

Q. I’ve lost my open day programme and stickers/they haven’t arrived in the post, what should I do?

A. Spare stickers and programmes will be available on the day from the various information points. You will need to print out your confirmation email and take it to one of the information stands as proof that you have booked a place. You will then be given a new sticker and programme by staff on the stand.

Q. Can I park anywhere? How do I get to UCL?

A. We ask visitors not to drive as we cannot provide parking. We recommend that you use public transport to get to the campus. There is a travel section on the Open Day website which can help you to plan your journey  www.ucl.ac.uk/openday

Q. Will there be space on campus to store my luggage during the Open Day?

A. We will not have any space to store left luggage on the day. If you have a lot of luggage, we recommend that they leave it at Euston Station or King’s Cross station.

Q. I have/ my guest has a disability and will need extra help on the day. What should I do?

A. We will do our utmost to accommodate any visitors who require additional support during the Open day. If you or your guest have any additional requirements to facilitate your visit to UCL, please email the Open Day team on openday@ucl.ac.uk or call 020 7679 3000. Please also note that Student Disability Services will be running drop-in consultations from 10:00-12:00 and 13:00 - 15:00 on the day. The consultations will take place in Room G16, on the ground floor of the South Wing (Zone: Green, Map Ref: C3).

BOOKINGS

Q. I tried to book onto the open day, but the time slot I want is full, what do I do?

A. If the time slot you wish to attend is full, you can complete the registration form to be added to a waiting list. You will then be automatically notified if a place becomes available for you.

Q. Do I need to book tickets to attend specific talks?

Although students must register to attend the Open Day, we do not allocate tickets for any of the talks that take place. Many of our talks are very popular and we cannot always guarantee entry. As such, we recommend that you go to the venue of the talk 10 minutes before it is due to start. We are repeating our programme of activities in the afternoon. If you are unable to attend a session in the morning, please return for the repeat later in the day.
