Sutton Trust Teacher Summer School

UCL’s Sutton Trust Teacher Summer School expands on our work with the Sutton Trust on our Student Summer School and Sutton Scholars programmes.

UCL are delighted to be working with the Sutton Trust to run a Teacher Summer School in 2017. This year the programme will be themed around the process of ‘transition’, and provide participating teachers with an opportunity to:

  • Engage with staff from across UCL including Access, Admissions, Careers and Student Finance
  • Visit academic departments to gain an insight into teaching and learning across the university, hearing from lecturers and admissions tutors about what they are looking for
  • Take part in sessions run by the Higher Education Access Network and Voice 21, that offer guidance to teachers in supporting their students through the application, admissions and interview process for HE
  • Attend breakout sessions that offer advice and strategies supporting academic transitions
  • Network with peers to share good practice

The Teacher Summer School is free to attend, and aimed at teachers working in non-selective state schools and colleges. Funding for cover costs is available, and accommodation for delegates who are not within a commutable distance to London can also be provided.

Priority will be given to those delegates who have not attended a Teacher Summer School previously, and to those who work in schools and colleges that have the lowest progression rates to selective HE.

The Sutton Trust Teacher Summer School is a two-day event, and will run from Wednesday 28 – Thursday 29 June 2017. Applicants need to be able to commit to attending both days of the Teacher Summer School in order to be considered for a place. Applicants will also need to provide details of a nominee from their Senior Leadership Team that will support their application.
