Information for Prospective Students
UCL Junior Masterclasses
Junior Masterclasses give you a taste of learning at university. Pick from a range of academic subjects – you could choose a subject you study at school, or a completely new subject.
The masterclasses are entertaining, hands-on sessions run by UCL academics. You’ll get the chance to look around UCL, and you’ll meet other young people from across London.
Junior Masterclasses are open to young people attending state schools in Years 8-11. We run separate masterclasses for Years 8-9 and Years 10-11. Please note that if you are in Years 8 or 9 you will need to bring a parent or carer with you.
To attend our Junior Masterclasses students must be attending a state school. Applications will be assessed by the team and when selecting students priority will be given to those who are highly able and meet one or more of the following criteria:
// will be the first generation in their family to attend university
// come from neighbourhoods with low overall progression rates to higher education
// in local authority care
// are or have been eligible for free school meals within the past five years
// attending a school where a high proportion of students are in receipt of free school meals.
