The UCL / City and Islington Sixth Form College Partnership

Staff Development

“The real strength of the Partnership is, in my view, the development of inter-relationships between staff in each institution. The Partnership has proved to be a ‘laboratory' for educational teaching and research, with colleagues from both institutions working together.” - Frank McLoughlin, Principal, City & Islington College

The Partnership provides staff from both institutions with important opportunities to develop their understanding of pedagogical and subject-specific issues and of the specific circumstances in which each operates.

Masters Programmes

The Partnership provides fully-funded places for staff from CIC on two of UCL's modular Masters programmes, run by UCL's Centre for the Advancement of Learning and Teaching (CALT). Courses enable staff to enhance their academic practice through reflection on their own experience and engagement with the latest academic research. The Masters courses also support the Partnership by providing a forum in which issues of particular relevance to the project are explored.

Staff Fellowships

Fellowships provide members of staff from City and Islington College with the funding and sabbatical leave necessary to undertake extended research at UCL. The projects undertaken offer valuable development opportunities for staff at CIC, and insight for UCL staff into the way their subject is taught at A level.
