Environmental Engineering MEng [now Engineering (Civil with Environmental) MEng] - Rena Seyidova

Student profile: Rena Seyidova

Degree: Environmental Engineering MEng [now Engineering (Civil with Environmental) MEng]
Second year
Subject area: Civil and Environmental Engineering

The environment has always been very close to my heart and I wanted to commit myself to a degree that would have a positive impact on the environment and society.

I really like the fact that there is a great emphasis within my degree on developing the ability of students to connect theory with real-life situations and apply it accordingly. Therefore civil and environmental engineers are always involved in interesting and stimulating group projects, called 'scenarios', where they tackle real-life engineering problems such as building an offshore wind farm or designing a 'free-running' pavilion within a limited amount of time.

After completing my degree I hope to become a practising engineer in the field of sustainable development or renewable energy, and in the long term, attain the status of chartered engineer.
