Archaeology BA - Brigid Geist

Student profile: Brigid Geist

Degree: Archaeology BA
Third year
Subject area: Archaeology

I have always been interested in social sciences and particularly in archaeology. I chose to come to the UCL Institute of Archaeology because the atmosphere is so welcoming and because of its reputation as a world-class institution. I have really enjoyed my time here. The staff are very approachable, there's a real community atmosphere and I have always felt that I couldn't have made a better choice of university.

It is difficult to choose what I enjoy most about my degree programme because there are so many things. If I had to choose I would say my fieldwork experiences, because they've given me the opportunity to be really hands-on in terms of practical archaeology and I've made some lifelong friends. After completing my degree I plan to go on to a Master's in the management of archaeological sites with the goal of becoming a field archaeologist.

When I am not studying, I have a very active social life and spend time exploring London on my bike.
