Teaching and learning

As well as world-leading teaching and facilities, we add an extra dimension to your study by providing you with skills and perspectives that will benefit you for life.

Global citizenship

The UCL Global Citizenship Programme is a two-week programme that takes place in the summer, after examinations have finished.

It offers you the chance to put your studies in a global context, learn new skills and see the world differently, and is designed to help you prepare for the world beyond graduation.

Helping you to become a global citizen

During the programme, you'll tackle some of the key global questions that also occupy UCL's world-leading researchers, in areas such as Global Health, Sustainable Cities, Human Wellbeing and Intercultural Interaction.

You'll work alongside students from other disciplines, allowing you to approach these questions from a wide range of different perspectives, and come up with sustainable solutions as part of a multi-disciplinary project team.

The programme takes the form of an academic course in your first year, and in subsequent years gives you the chance to take part in practical, real-world projects in enterprise, volunteering and employability.

The Student View

"Through UCL Careers, I established essential basic knowledge and skills from which I could proactively explore new commercial opportunities. The numerous careers fairs and employer presentations hosted by UCL Careers allowed me not only to appreciate the diverse array of industries that were open to me, but also to become comfortable in approaching and networking with employers.

By taking part in their Global Citizenship Employability Programme, I received a crash-course on almost everything I needed to know about applying for jobs, ranging from writing CVs and cover letters to practising mock interviews and assessment centres. I was also involved in the Focus on Management course, where I gained valuable experience working within large teams to tackle a variety of case studies under pressure. These challenges moulded my interpersonal skill set to be fit for all aspects of my life to this day.

Once I graduate from UCL, I will begin a career at a healthcare consultancy - a perfect midway between my academic background and my commercial interests!

This offer would not have been possible today without the initial helping hand from UCL Careers."
