Applicants for deferred entry
UCL welcomes applications from students who are proposing to spend a pre-university (gap) year engaged in constructive activity, whether in the UK or abroad. Currently, 9% of UCL’s undergraduates elect to take a gap year between school and university. Some choose to work in a profession related to their degree; others travel or undertake voluntary work.
UCL supports the Year in Industry scheme whereby students use their gap years to undertake a structured placement in an industrial company. Further details can be obtained at www.yini.org.uk
Our rules allow you to apply for deferred entry and your application will be considered a year ahead of the normal application timetable. Please be sure to include your reasons for wishing to defer your entry in your personal statement as this will aid our Admissions Selector in their considerations.
Note: Please be aware that it is not possible to be considered for deferred entry if you are applying for a Fine Art programme.
