Anna
My name is Anna and I am reading Linguistics. I have grown up in Italy, but my mother is Irish and my father is Indian. I speak English and Italian fluently, and I am working on my Spanish and French.
At the moment I am staying at Canterbury Hall, a catered intercollegiate hall. This is my first time living in England as well as my first time away from home for such an extended period.

David
My name is David, I’m studying English and originally from a place called Stockport which is constantly under the shadow of its bigger, more prominent and lucrative neighbour – Manchester. Like a lot of people it seems, I took a gap year where for the past year, my life has been torn between selling televisions, fixing beleaguered iPods for ‘desperate music lovers’, writing music reviews and attending many gigs and more often than not, trying to get through the long, laborious (yet enjoyable, mind) reading list.
At this current moment, I’m residing at Goldsmid House; a 1970’s looking concrete block that has arguably one of the best views an urban dweller could aspire to procure (over looking Marks and Spencer and Selfridges on Oxford Street).

Elaine
My name is Elaine and I am 19 years old. I am currently studying BA Philosophy at UCL and am thoroughly enjoying it. I am originally from Dublin, but moved to Essex when I was five. I am living at home with my parents just outside London while studying at UCL. I feel this has helped me not only to save money, but I get to keep all my home comforts too. I took a gap year before coming to UCL in order to give myself some time to think about what exactly I wanted to study and why. In my gap year I took up an extra A-level in Religious Studies through a distant learning college and from that decided to study Philosophy at university level.

Hugh
I come from Caen, in Lower-Normandy, France. I was born in England, but have lived in France for most of my life. I am a first year SSEES student, studying Czech (with Slovak) and Eastern European Studies. (I don't have any personal ties with the region, or speak any local languages, a part from a bit of German...). I am now living at Campbell House West, on Taviton Street. At UCL, when not studying, I am planning to do some charity work, get involved in societies (German, Masaryk, LGB, HumanPALS, ...). Of course, I also think I'm going to need to find a source of income...
