Important Information for all Applicants

The Santander "1-UCL" Excellence/Endeavour Awards, funded by Santander, aim to foster the notion of UCL as a community. These awards seek to highlight, celebrate and reward outstanding achievement or endeavour by current UCL students in a non-academic field.

Up to ten awards are available.

Eligibility Requirements

Nominees must be current UCL students, enrolled for study or research at any level.

Nominations may relate to activities or achievements in the current or the previous academic year provided the student was enrolled at UCL at the relevant time. A group of students may be nominated for an award, as appropriate.

Selection Criteria

Awards are allocated to individuals who have shown outstanding achievement or endeavour in a non-academic field relating to UCL as a community. Activities might be in areas such as sport, music, theatre, fundraising, volunteering and mentoring.

A condition of acceptance of the award is that successful nominees will co-operate in any reasonable publicity activity which UCL or Santander may wish to attach to the award.

Value

Each award consists of a donation of £1,000 on behalf of the selected student/group of students to a single organisation of the awardholder’s choice.

Note

There are no restrictions on the organisations to which the award may be donated, except they may not be party political, and they must be organisations; the award may not be donated to an individual.

Application Procedure and Deadline

Candidates may be nominated by a UCL student or staff member by submitting the Santander 1-UCL Nomination Form. Students cannot nominate themselves.

Nominations must be submitted to UCL Student Funding by 1 May 2013.

Nominations should be emailed to studentfunding@ucl.ac.uk or posted to:

Selection and Notification of Results

A selection panel consisting of UCL staff, a Student Union member, and a Santander representative will consider all nominations received and identify up to 10 students to receive the award.

Successful candidates can expect to be notified in July, and will be asked to indicate which organisation they wish to benefit from the £1,000 donation.

Note

Successful groups of students can only nominate one organisation and the group's key contact will be asked to confirm the group's choice of organisation.

Only successful nominees will be notified.
