Important information for Students

ESRC Studentships

The School/Department has a number of ESRC-funded Quota Studentships for 3-year MPhil/PhD research and 1+3 Master's + MPhil/PhD students.

In addition, prospective Master's students may also be able to apply in the competition for ESRC Open Studentships, as the Master's programmes offered by the Department of Political Science/School of Public Policy are recognised by ESRC with regard to 1+3 funding.

Applicants for studentships are prospective graduate students intending to pursue the MPhil/PhD programme, or a Master's programme followed by MPhil/PhD research within the Department of Political Science/School of Public Policy.

Value

The studentships cover UK/EU tuition fees and provide a maintenance stipend.

Deadline

Applicants must submit an application for for admission by 31 January.

Departmental MPhil/PhD Awards

The Department of Political Science/School of Public Policy offers four awards for prospective MPhil/PhD research students.

Recipients of the awards will be selected on the basis of academic merit.

Value

£1,650.

Deadline

Application for admissions by 31 January.

Application and Information

There is no separate award application process or form. All applicants to the MPhil/PhD programme in the Department of Political Science, who apply for admission by 31st January, will be considered for an award.
