Important information for Students

ESRC Funding 

The Department of Science and Technology Studies attracts funding for graduate study and research from the UK Research Councils.

In addition to the +3 recognition the Department held for ESRC funding for M.Phil./PhD research, it has now also received 1+3 ESRC recognition, and offers two Master's programmes recognised by ESRC:

• MSc in History of Science, Medicine and Technology and
• MSc in Science, Technology, Medicine and Society.

STS MSc Studentships

The Department offers up to two studentships for UK/EU students admitted to the MSc in History of Science, Medicine and Technology or the MSc in Science, Technology, Medicine and Society, both taught at the London  Centre for the History of Science, Medicine and Technology.

Awards are made on the basis of academic excellence.

There is a preference to award one studentship for each MSc programme; however, the department may elect instead to support exceptional candidates regardless of their programme choice.

Value

Studentships cover UK/EU fees only. They do not provide a stipend for maintenance or accommodation. 

Deadline

Admissions applications must be submitted by 30th April.

Application and Information

There is no separate studentship application procedure or form. All UK/EU applicants accepted for entry into the two MSc programmes will automatically be considered for these studentships, and judged on the basis of their application for admission.

Those interested in a studentship should indicate this in their admissions application and may - to support their case - provide an additional statement (750 words) describing their particular interest in the degree.
