Overseas Studentship for Master's Programmes

One studentship for students eligible to pay fees at the Overseas rate and accepted for MA study in the department. The sole selection criterion is academic merit.

Value

Studentships cover 50% of fees at the overseas rate.

There is no application procedure. All those eligible, i.e. overseas students admitted for MA studies by 1 April, will automatically be considered for funding.

Richard Chattaway Scholarship

One scholarship for postgraduate work into the history of modern warfare from 1870.

Simeon Shoul Bursary

One bursary, established in memory of Simeon Shoul, a former research student in this department, is open to all completing research students.

Carol Chattaway Scholarship

For postgraduate taught or research students in medieval historical studies. Particular consideration will be given to mature students and female students.

Jean Orr Scholarship

One scholarship for a postgraduate Master's student studying in one or more of the following departments - History, French, Italian and Dutch, awarded on the basis of academic merit.

Value

£7,000 per annum, for one academic year only. This will be applied to the cost of tuition fees for the year, and any additional amount (if relevant) will be paid to the recipient as maintenance.

Application

Candidates will be selected by academic departments on the basis of admission application form.
