Important information for All Applicants

ACE Master’s Scholarship

One ACE Master’s scholarship is available annually to support a student from a newer EU country applying to the Institute of Archaeology to study on a technical or applied Master’s course. This scholarship is funded by the British charitable trust, The Association for Cultural Exchange, an educational charity which has been a pioneer of adult and continuing education and is a leading provider of study tours in the UK. The Association is a keen supporter of archaeology research and seeks to encourage the exchange of ideas amongst people from diverse cultures.

Eligibility Requirements

Candidates must:

  • Be nationals of one of the following countries: Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia.
  • Hold an offer of admission to a one year full-time technical or applied Master’s programme at the Institute of Archaeology, starting the following year
Selection Criteria

The scholarship is award on the basis of academic ability and potential and financial need.

Value: Benefits and Duration

The scholarship consists of a one off payment of £8,000 and is tenable for 1 year

n.b. It is a condition of the grant that The Association for Cultural Exchange receives a short report from the student regarding their studies at the Institute, together with a copy of any relevant publications, such as a dissertation.

Nominations Deadline and Procedure

Candidates who wish to be considered for this scholarship should complete an ACE Scholarship application form available from the Department. Candidates are then nominated by the Institute of Archaeology and the final award made by the Trustees of The Association for Cultural Exchange. The deadline for applications is 1st April.

Notification of Results

The successful candidate will be notified by the Institute of Archaeology by early August.
