UCL Mentoring programme
Year 12
The Outreach Office trains current UCL students to mentor pupils at partner schools and colleges. The mentoring schemes aim to improve the attainment of gifted pupils from backgrounds which are under-represented in higher education.
The Year 12 programme provides small-group mentoring to sixth form students aiming to attend a Russell Group university. The programme aims to stretch students by introducing them to topics outside their A level syllabus, and offering guidance on preparing for A levels and applying to university.
We work predominantly with students in central London boroughs so that mentors are able to travel to the schools. However, we are also keen to explore e-mentoring possibilities. Our programmes begin in November 2012.
We will be unable to add schools to the mentoring programme for the 2012/13 academic year, but would be happy to discuss programmes for the future.
