UCL Language and Study Skills Summer School
Years 12 and 13
This
is an intensive two-week residential summer school for students in Year 12 and
13 who do not have a foreign language GCSE at grade C or above.
By the end of the two weeks, you will have reached a basic conversational level in your chosen modern foreign language. The following languages are available to study:
- Arabic;
- French;
- German;
- Italian;
- Japanese;
- Mandarin;
- Spanish.
For UK-based students, UCL requires a GCSE in a foreign language (other than Ancient Greek, Biblical Hebrew or Latin) at grade C or above for all of its programmes. At UCL, we believe that knowledge of a modern language and the possession of intercultural skills are an integral part of a 21st century education. Completion of this summer school is a way in which potential applicants can meet UCL’s modern language requirement.
The summer school is particularly intended to offer additional support to students from under-represented backgrounds to learn a language.
