Activities
UCL Horizons Year 12 Summer Challenge
An award-winning academic course for Year 12 students, running for six two-hour sessions on Wednesday evenings in June and July 2013. There are 12 courses to choose from in Summer 2013 in science, arts, engineering, humanities and social sciences subjects. Students must produce a short piece of academic work as part of the course.
UCL Language and Study Skills Summer School
This is an intensive two-week residential summer school for students in Year 12 and 13 who do not have a foreign language GCSE at grade C or above.
Extended Project
UCL Outreach’s Academic Skills Team supports Year 12 and 13 students undertaking the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) as part of our commitment to the development of study skills as preparation for university degrees.
Uni-link
Uni-link is a set of linked activities with groups of Year 12 students from the same school/college that are designed to support progression and raise aspirations, providing a joined-up support route for learners that goes beyond one-off progression activities.
UCL Mentoring Programme
The Outreach Office trains current UCL students to mentor students at partner schools and colleges. The mentoring schemes aim to improve the attainment of gifted pupils from backgrounds which are under-represented in higher education.
Taster Courses
Each year during the Spring and Summer Terms UCL provides one-day taster courses for Year 12 students as part of the University of London Taster Courses.
Target Medicine
Target Medicine is a widening participation project delivered by medical students from
UCL’s Medical School, with support from academic staff.
Pathways to Law
Pathways to Law is an innovative programme which runs in seven universities across the UK, offering a wealth of opportunities to school and college students wishing to go into the legal profession.
Gateways Year 12 Conference
These one-day events are based at UCL. The conference offers students a
fantastic opportunity to experience university life, with lectures and seminars on different subjects.
PP Sixth Pure Potential
PP Sixth is an event held at UCL, and runs in conjunction with the organisation Pure Potential. It provides the opportunity for state-school sixth formers to spend a day at UCL, attending various sessions designed to help maximise their chances of achieving an offer from a competitive university.
