UCL Sutton Trust Biosciences and English Summer Schools supported by the Wolfson Foundation

From 19 - 23 August 2013, UCL will be running two residential summer schools in partnership with The Sutton Trust supported by the Wolfson Foundation. These summer schools will cover Biosciences and English.

The UCL Summer Schools will give you a taste of university life in the heart of London. You will be taught by top academics, experience lectures, seminars and laboratory workshops  (for the Biosciences strand), and will be supported by UCL undergraduate mentors. You will gain an invaluable insight into studying at university, and will develop the skills needed to succeed in your chosen subject.

There are 80 places available on the Summer Schools (40 for each subject strand) and you will meet students from the other strand during the evening activities.

Students will stay in UCL halls of residence in central London, a short walk away from the campus.

Academic programme

Through the Summer School you will gain experience of studying and living at a university in the heart of London.

You will be taught by leading academics and researchers, and UCL undergraduate mentors will work with you during the week. At the end of the week, you will work in groups to prepare presentations to share what you have learnt with the rest of the Summer School students.

Other activities

Alongside the academic programme, you will take part in a programme of activities to provide advice and guidance on higher education issues. These sessions will include:

• Making a successful UCAS application
• Student finance at university
• Choosing your degree programme
• Career pathways and opportunities

Each evening you will take part in a social programme, designed to show you the fun side of university life. You’ll get to know your fellow students and have the opportunity to explore some of the varied attractions that London has to offer.
