Work Experience

  • Some experience of working with young people or the general public

Academic qualifications

  • Must be enrolled as an undergraduate or postgraduate student at UCL
  • Good general education plus good progress in their current degree

Knowledge

  • A good knowledge of UCL and its student support services
  • A good awareness of the UK education system

Personal qualities

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • The ability to communicate sympathetically with school and college students, particularly those from groups under-represented in higher education
  • The ability to work as part of a team
  • The ability to listen and follow instructions
  • Reliability and punctuality
  • Commitment to helping younger students discover more about the opportunities that are available for them in higher education

Other information

  • All UCL students are invited to apply but we would particularly welcome applications from students who are the first in their family to go onto higher education
  • You must be willing to undertake a Criminal Records Bureau check
  • You will have to attend at least two training sessions in addition to the 'Introduction to the Student Ambassador Scheme'
  • You must commit to taking part in at least one student ambassador activity per term
