How to Apply: UCL Exchange

Eligibility

You will need to check with your departmental Study Abroad Tutor or with the Study Abroad Team to see if your department is involved in one of the UCL exchange programmes. You must obtain provisional approval from your Study Abroad Tutor in order to apply.

NB. When researching your study abroad options, do not contact UCL's partner institutions directly. Any questions about UCL's exchange partners should be addressed to the UCL Study Abroad Team.

Application

The application for UCL Exchanges closed on 07 December 2012. Any applications received after this deadline will only be considered after those applications received on time.

Applications were made online.

As part of your application you will be asked to provide:

  • Your personal details
  • A list of up to three institutions for which you would like to be considered
  • A personal statement
  • The name of two tutors who have agreed to act as your referee (after you submit your application, the Study Abroad Team will contact them for a reference)
  • A copy of your up-to-date CV
  • Evidence of your language skills (where appropriate).

You must give a choice of at least two institutions, though candidates are advised to focus on their first choice for the purpose of their personal statement.

For further hints and tips about applying for your UCL exchange, you can download the slides from our information session on making a good application.

Deadline For Applications

Applications must be submitted to the Study Abroad Team no later than Friday, 7 December 2012.

Applicants must also submit a completed Study Abroad Approval Form (available from the Student Centre from November 2012) to the Study Abroad Team no later than Friday 7 December 2012.

In some cases, students may be asked to attend a short interview in January.

If successful, students are required by the Study Abroad Team to complete the Study Abroad Preparation Programme during the Spring Term. You will receive more information about the Preparation Programme in January 2013.
