Entry Requirements

Please note that the following information is only a general guide. In addition, other factors may be taken into consideration such as relevant work experience. Please refer to the Undergraduate Prospectus or the Graduate Prospectus for further information.

Undergraduate Study

For entry into UCL’s undergraduate degree programmes, students who hold A-Levels, the International Baccalaureate, the European Baccalaureate or the award of the Matura or Reifeprüfung certificates from Austria with good grades (overall average of 2, with at least 2.0 in relevant subjects) will be considered.

For specific entry requirements for individual programmes, students are best advised to contact the undergraduate admissions tutor as listed in the Undergraduate Prospectus

English Language Requirements

If English is not your first language you will also need to satisfy UCL’s English Language Requirements. If written and oral examinations in the Matura/Reifeprüfung have been taken, a mark of 2.0 (gut) is sufficient. Otherwise a variety of English language programmes are offered at the UCL Language Centre.

Graduate Study

UCL Masters Entry Requirement (UK 2:2 Hons equivalent):

Any of the following from a recognised institution:
Bachelors degree with an overall average mark of 3 to 1 (inclusive)
Diplom with an overall average mark of 3 to 1 (inclusive)
Magister with an overall average mark of 3 to 1 (inclusive)
Diplom (FH) awarded by a Fachhochschule, with an overall average grade of 3 to 1 (inclusive) plus UCL Senior Tutor approval.
Erste Diplomprüfung, awarded after two-years' full time study with an overall average grade of 2 to 1 (inclusive) plus at least one further year of full time study towards the award of the Diplom/Magister with an overall average grade of 2 to 1 (inclusive) plus UCL Senior Tutor approval.

UCL Research Programme Entry Requirement (UK 2:1 Hons equivalent):

Any of the following from a recognised institution:
Bachelors degree with an overall average mark of 2 to 1 (inclusive)
Diplom with an overall average mark of 2 to 1 (inclusive)
Magister with an overall average mark of 2 to 1 (inclusive)
Diplom (FH) awarded by a Fachhochschule, with an overall average grade of 2 to 1 (inclusive) plus UCL Senior Tutor approval.
