Gamal Ezz El Arab
studied at the Institute of Ophthalmology, UCL. He works as a medical
doctor (an ophthalmologist) and is executive director to a
non-governmental organisation called Al Noor Foundation. Based in
Cairo, the Foundation provides eye care services to deprived
communities, particularly women and children, in rural Egypt. Gamal writes, "Studying at UCL was a turning point in my career. Before then I worked only as a clinical doctor providing hospital based eye care services. Through the study at UCL I came to appreciate the importance of providing community based eye care services. In my current job I'm utilising the knowledge and skills I gained from that very interesting course in designing and conducting eye programs that target needless blindness and low vision." |
