Mathematics research at UCL is flourishing with significant funding from EPSRC, ERC, RoyalSoc and Industry. The department is a member of the UCL Institute of Origins, Centre for Inverse Problems, mathematical biology group CoMPLEX, hosts the Clinical Operational Research Unit and has 20 postdoctoral researchers including the new Clifford Fellowship scheme. The department, together with King's and Imperial, runs the London School of Geometry and Number Theory (LSGNT), an EPSRC-funded Centre for Doctoral Training, first PhD student intake in 2014. Students benefit from our leading role in the London Taught Course Centre for PhD students in Mathematical Sciences, enabling study outside the realms of their research degree. Staff edit the highly regarded research journal Mathematika, published by London Mathematical Society.
