Implant Dentistry PG Dip
The Implant Dentistry Diploma is designed for dentists with little or no experience in implant dentistry, and offers extensive postgraduate teaching to enable participants to comprehensively diagnose, treatment plan and treat, within the scope of their ability, patients in need of implant based prosthodontic treatment.

What will I learn?
In the first year, students develop a sound evidence-based knowledge of implant dentistry with emphasis on patient selection, diagnosis, planning and basic surgery. They develop further skills in the second and third years with an emphasis on the restorative aspects of implant dentistry, patient care and practice management.

Students benefit from first-class facilities for both education and research which provide unique, seamless training in specialist dentistry and access to a wide range of clinical cases and techniques which ensures experience of managing complex clinical problems.
Students undertake modules to the value of 120 credits. The programme consists of six core modules (120 credits).
Teaching and Learning
Teaching is provided by a multidisciplinary team of registered specialists and will include invited national and international speakers. The programme is delivered through a series of interactive lectures, seminars, hands-on training, live surgery and supervised clinical treatment. Assessment is through written assignments, clinical log books and a yearly examination.

All applicants must hold an approved dental qualification and have a minimum of two years' clinical experience. In addition they must be currently in practice and hold current General Dental Council registration.
Applicants whose first language is not English must demonstrate that they meet the required standard by either having recently passed one of the UCL recognised English language tests at the 'good' level, or through previous work or education experience in English. Students are advised to apply as early as possible due to competition for places. Those applying for scholarship funding (particularly overseas applicants) should take note of application deadlines.

This newly revised part-time programme is ideally suited to any general dental practitioner or specialist wishing to develop their knowledge of implant dentistry and extend clinical skills whilst working towards a university accredited postgraduate qualification.

The aim of the programme is to enable dentists to bring implant dentistry into their everyday practice. Graduates of the programme will be equipped with the skills necessary for dental implant case selection and planning, and the skills to restore a single cement-retained implant crown.
