What will I learn?
The programme provides primary material reflecting the perception of both current practice and future importance. Students obtain exposure to industrial and commercial constraints through a seminar series delivered largely by industry; and gain the opportunity to put academic and project management skills into practice in individual and group activities.

UCL Computer Science is recognised as a world leader in teaching and research, and the Networked Computer Systems MSc has been running for over a decade with strong encouragement from government and companies from both the information technology and financial service sectors.
The programme is accredited by the British Computer Society and gives exemption from the society's Part II examinations. This exemption allows graduates to join the society and obtain admission to the professional grade of MBCS after appropriate additional experience.
Membership of the BCS is recognised by the Engineering Council for recognition as a chartered engineer (CEng).
Students undertake modules to the value of 180 credits. The programme consists of eight core modules (120 credits) and a group project (60 credits).
A Postgraduate Diploma (120 credits) is offered.
A Postgraduate Certificate (60 credits) is offered.
All MSc students undertake a group project in the field of networked computer systems, which culminates in a group project report, an individual project report and an oral examination.
Teaching and Learning
The programme is delivered through a combination of lectures, interactive industrial seminars, class discussions, tutorials and project supervision. Students have the opportunity of attending seminars given by people in the front line of commerce and industry. Assessment is through coursework, practical work, unseen written examination and through the group project.

A minimum of an upper second-class UK Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or in a science or engineering subject with significant computer science content, or an overseas qualification of an equivalent standard. Relevant work experience may also be taken into account. Successful candidates will have good programming skills in C/C++ or Java, and we would expect candidates to have at least some knowledge of both of these.
